Practice Coordinator
Mark first began practicing meditation in his early twenties as a martial arts student. During that period, he was also immersed in post-graduate studies in the History of Ideas at a university. He found himself drawn to the overarching ideas that have profoundly impacted humankind, for better or worse. Buddhism and early Taoist writings captured Mark's attention as some of the most remarkable collections of thoughts ever developed.
In addition to his fascination with eastern philosophies, Mark was an avid student of world literature, delving into the works of great literary masters whom he would come to regard as his teachers in hindsight. His journey of self-discovery and enlightenment was complemented by his ongoing meditation practice and over twenty years of practicing yoga.
However, Mark eventually realized that his skills in meditation were incomplete without the foundational teachings of the Dharma and the support of a Sangha. This realization led him to the Tergar meditation community, where he found precious learning opportunities and guidance. The community, accessible for both beginners and experienced meditators, offered a caring environment where Mark could connect with people locally and from around the world.
Mingyur Rinpoche, a highly skilled communicator, became a source of invaluable wisdom for Mark. He felt fortunate to receive expositions on Buddhist principles and thoughts, particularly those rooted in Tibetan Buddhism, enriching his spiritual and intellectual journey.
